Every once in awhile you need a no-brainer outfit. You know, for those mornings when you hit snooze a few too many times and just can't think of anything creative to wear. This was one of those outfits for me!
The key to a no-brainer look, in my opinion, is having favorite basics with which to work. You've seen this sweatshirt dress on me bunches of times and I still can't get enough! It is comfy, can be for work or play, and is so basic that it is easily re-mixable. Almost every single morning that I find myself staring vacantly at my closet, I end-up pulling out this dress.
Once I've got this dress on, the rest is easy...I grab a cardigan or jacket or blazer or tights or statement necklace...you catch my drift? Today the spring weather called for my denim jacket and in order to add a pop of color, I threw-on my pink statement necklace.
What's the first piece you pull out of your closet when you are in a bind?

DeleteI've literally worn almost this exact outfit except we my navy gap dress and teal bubble necklace. Great minds think alike :) you look adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny! Isn't it the comfiest outfit?!?
DeleteI love love LOVE the fit of this dress, no wonder you are always reaching for it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It really is the most comfortable dress that I own! I kind of wish I would have bought it in the navy, too!
DeleteFirst of all, hope your Teacher's Week was filled with great stuff and lovely days. Teachers are worth it!!
ReplyDeleteSecondly you look LOVELY. Love that dress and the Pink Bubble Necklace was perfect with the Gray. My Mother's Day Gift was a Striped Dress in the same shape/silhouette as yours, Cannot wait to wear it, soon. =)
Thank you so much! And what a wonderful Mother's Day gift! I can't wait to see how you style it on your blog :)
DeleteIf it's winter: pants + button up + sweater/cardigan. If it's spring/summer: dress (and cardigan or jacket if necessary). I am thankful for those pieces in my closet that are reliable and the perfect go-to. If I had this grey dress, it would probably end up being one of my go-to pieces as well!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I don't think I would survive without my go-to pieces! For some reason, I'm not a big fan of button ups. I have a hard time getting them to fit quite right. It's so interesting that something I don't wear can be a staple for you!
DeleteI have a similar dress and I've been trying to figure what to wear with it. Thank you for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteMy go-to is a cardigan and a statement necklace!!
I am having a fashion party link up. I would love if you'd come join!!
Have a beautiful start to a wonderful week pretty girl!!

ReplyDeleteExactly! You can do pretty much anything with it!
DeleteLooooooove this look! I finally found a good denim jacket this weekend and I hope I can rock it as well/often as you do! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you know I rock mine all.the.time :)

Ohhh, thank you! That was a really helpful review! I feel pretty good because I've been trying most of her tips so far. But she mentions requesting the same stylist every month...I hadn't thought of that!
DeleteThis outfit is perfect. You're inspiring me to wear my gray dress from the Gap, too! Mine is not a glorious sweatshirt material, however. Also, every time I read one of your posts, I want to tell you how much I love your hair. I have to exercise self control and say it only every so often.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Thank you! I have a love/hate relationship with my hair so that really means a lot :) It's really got a mind of it's own so I can't take credit for what it looks like. Haha.
DeleteSo chic! You look gorgeous, Whitney. Love this pop of color, and so glad you shared your remix with us! Have a great weekend, lady!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you! Thanks, as always, for the Remix Rewear Restyle challenges. They are one of my favorite link-ups!
DeleteLoving the sweatshirt dress, what a great go-to piece!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria! It really is an amazing dress!
DeleteI love your statement necklace, I love its colour and it really stands out against the neutral background. Denim jackets are really in at this time of year and your choice of dress looks so comfy. We all need items like that in our wardrobes. I've just started following you on bloglovin. I will leave my link in case you would like to follow.
