Redecorating Our Bedroom with PHOTOWALL

Last summer, my handsome guy and I decided to move in together.  Since then, we've had five lovely months of board game nights, cooking breakfast for dinner, and "honey I'm home" hugs after work every evening.

We've also spent a lot of time moving my furniture into his home, sorting our belongings, and finding inspiration for decorating a home in our style instead of mine or his.  Since we are in the throes of redecorating, I jumped at the chance to choose a piece of artwork from PHOTOWALL when they offered a canvas in exchange for a blog review.

PHOTOWALL offers a wide variety of wall murals and canvases.  You can search for artwork by themes like Typography or Cities.  They can also use pictures you've taken and turn them into a quality canvas to hang on your wall!

I chose this lovely canvas featuring a quote by e.e. cummings for our bedroom.  The quote evokes the romance and peaceful vibe I want for this space.  I wish I had pictures of our completely decorated bedroom, but you will have to wait for that since we are still picking the perfect furniture.  In the meantime, you do get a sneak peek at the paint color (his) and bedspread (mine) we're using.

I'm so pleased at the quality of this canvas from PHOTOWALL.  It was also really fun to put together!  It came delivered with the fabric rolled into a tube, four strips of wood, and super easy-to-follow instructions (believe me, I'm not crafty).  I felt so accomplished when it all came together!

If you don't believe me about the quality, check-out the strength of the canvas!

My little bud, Izzo, wanted in on the photo shoot action!

If you are interested in freshening-up your décor with a mural or canvas from PHOTOWALL, they are offering Whitney à la mode readers 20% off any purchase with the code WALMCampaign2018. The code will be good until March 10th!  Check-out their selection and let me know which pieces you love!

The Holiday Series: Holiday Home Tour

Ahhh, take in the sight of a beautiful, sparkling Christmas tree!  Is there anything else that makes you feel quite so warm and fuzzy inside?

Decorating for the holiday season is always one of my favorite Christmas traditions, but this year is extra special!  I moved-in with my boyfriend a few months ago so we are spending our first holiday season together in our home!

It's been so much fun to decorate with someone!  We had a ton of fun visiting a Christmas tree farm and choosing the perfect evergreen while sipping hot chocolate.  Then we spent all day Saturday watching Christmas movies and decorating the tree.

Last year, I decorated in rose golds and pinks, but this year I went for a look that's a little less feminine.  Part of the fun has been choosing decorations that reflect both my boyfriend and me!

My boyfriend and I each had a few sentimental ornaments of our own to contribute to the decorations.  Plus, while we were traveling this summer, we decided to always purchase an ornament in each place we visit together.  But despite this collection of baubles, we still had lots of blank tree to be filled.  When we decided on a traditional color scheme of gold, green and red, I picked-up some ornaments at Target to finish the decorations.  I also grabbed a wrapping paper trio to fit the theme!

Bright Holiday Baubles and Religious Christmas Cards

bright holiday baubles

One holiday tradition I enjoy every year is receiving Christmas cards from my loved ones around the world!  But up until this year, I stuck with receiving greetings as opposed to sending them.  Why? Because it seemed that most holiday cards come from families with lots of smiling kiddos as opposed to celebrating single gals.  But no longer!  I've decided that since I, too, live a fun and fulfilled life, I will also be the spreading holiday cheer!

My Holiday Home Tour

Joyeux Noël and welcome to my warm and cozy holiday home!  Christmas is absolutely the most wonderful time of the year, in my book, and I love decorating my apartment to make it a festive representation of my style and love for the holidays.

I am so excited to be participating in a blog hop with my friends at The Blended Blog today so that we can share our holiday homes with you!  If you are coming from Andrea's post, welcome!  She is such a sweet and genuine homemaker, I'm sure her decorations are fabulous!

I wanted the feel of my holiday home to be warm and white with pops of bright and festive fun!  A neutral, yarn-inspired wreath will welcome you in and eclectic, brightly colored baubles can be found throughout my apartment.

My new, rose gold tree is definitely the centerpiece of the décor!  As soon as I saw it, I knew that it was absolutely my perfect tree and I am oh so in love with it's feminine sparkle!  A knitted tree skirt and bright wrapping paper add to the colorful ambiance.

Create28: Pinned It and Did It + Link-Up

I'm doing something a little bit differently around here today.  My "pinned it and did it" post will not feature an outfit, as most of my posts do.  I would like to say that this is an intentional decision but if I'm being honest, it's due to my hair surviving a torrential downpour during MSU's football game on Saturday and a Sunday spent lesson planning, not washing hair.  (Please tell me I'm not the only one that doesn't always wash my hair on Sundays).  So around these parts, hair disaster does not equal outfit photos!

I know, I know, Create28: Fall Looks is about creative outfit creation, so I apologize!  Please forgive me as I show you a bit of home decoration instead!

When I moved into my new apartment this summer, I knew I wanted to have a desk space.  I hadn't ever had one before so I was craving a soothing and organized spot I could sit to blog, lesson plan and grade papers.  I wanted a space that was pretty and simple yet functional.  To add to the challenge, I live in a small apartment without room for a desk.  I decided to try to create a "desk by day, dining by night" room!

This pin provided the perfect inspiration!  With all of my desk supplies on a cart, I could easily keep it close to my "desk" and then roll it to the corner of the room when I needed the "table."

I found this fun "pop of color" cart that was exactly what I was looking for!  And as an added bonus, I already owned the accessories I used to decorate the cart.  Pretty stationary, colorful desk supplies, fun binders and a yummy candle completed the look!

And what kind of blogger would I be without the quintessential initial mug and a vase of pretty (faux) flowers?!

I hope you enjoyed this tiny peek into my home!  I can't wait to see all of your Create28 looks below!
