When life hands you lemons...

Hello, sweet blogging friends!  I've missed you!  You may have noticed that I haven't been writing very much lately and I would like to offer an explanation.  One thing I always wonder about this little blog of mine, is how much of my personal life I should share with you.  On the one hand, I know that I enjoy reading little snippets about the personal lives of my favorite bloggers.  I feel more personally connected to the writers...which is a good thing, in my book.  Yet on the other hand, I know that I write a style blog, not a lifestyle blog and I try to keep the focus on fashion.

That being said, it for some reason seems right to share with you that I have been going through a really rough patch in my personal life lately.  Without going into too many details, I've chosen to part ways with a person who has meant a great deal to me for a very long time.  This has caused hurt for both of us but I'm really hoping that happiness is on the horizon.

For the moment, though, the idea of smiling for pictures (let alone posting them on the internet) hasn't been at the top of my to-do list.  I hope you will bear with me and look past the recent infrequency of my posts.  However, I did start this blog as something for me and I think that having something positive to focus on will help me to move forward.  I'm hoping to get back into the swing of (blogging) things!

But in the meantime, when life hands you lemons, make a gin and tonic and drink it while wearing an adorably lemony dress!

  2. Hey, Whitney! I have missed you and was wondering what was going on. I agree with you about a being a style blog and that is my focus as well BUT I really want to know the person behind the fashion. The personal aspects of people's lives is what draws me to their blog. :) Thanks for sharing and a break is a good thing and healing comes with time. Blessings to you!

  3. I have missed your posts! I'm so sorry to hear you are going through a difficult time. I hope things get better soon!!! I absolutely relate to your struggles about how much to share. I think there's a really delicate balance between oversharing and giving an unrealistic picture of our lives.

  4. So sorry to see you're going through a rough patch, Whitney. I can completely relate to the "how much do I share" dilemma-- I even panic about putting full face/body pictures on the internet. I'd love to share with readers, but you just never know who out there wants to take advantage of your content.

I've been skipping blogging for some personal reasons as well the past week or so. It's hard to muster up that fun tone we love to read in style and beauty blogs when life just isn't all that fun at the moment.

Sending positive thoughts your way so that you can sweeten up those lemons life has sent you!

    1. Thanks, Allie! It is pretty frightening to put your thoughts and images on the internet...but I'm thankful I've taken that risk because I've gained wonderful blogging friends like you!

I'm sorry to hear that you've hit a rough patch as well. I'm thinking of you and I hope you find peace and happiness soon!

  5. Hi friend. I am now just catching up with several blogs because I have been so busy and I am so sorry about your rough time. I agree that when life makes you lemons, you use them to make a delish, fun, fruity cocktail. That dress is pretty also.

P.S. Thanks about your E=Mail. I have appreciated it a lot. I too love to get to know the blogger behind the blog and I have loved getting to know you even better.

You stay strong, beautiful girl. =)

  6. Don't worry about us, dear. We will be here when you are ready to come back! I had made a similar choice in my life and I know how difficult it can be, even when you are the one who has made the choice. So take your time and do what you need to do to heal and get back to happiness.

    1. That is exactly it. Even though I know it was the right decision, it feels so sad. It helps to know that there are others who have been through the same sort of thing and have survived :)

  7. Hi sweet Whitney - I'm so sorry to hear you've been going through a tough time in your personal life. I understand that confusion over how much to share, and all I have to say is that I'm here to support you. It's sometimes really lonely and alienating when you and a special person in your life decide to part ways. I hope you can take the time you need to heal, but know that I'm here to support you in the meantime! XOXO

  10. I think this means that you and I really DO need to hang out in real life. I actually took the summer off (no curriculum writing or summer school--craaaazy), so I'd love to make real-life, not just blogging-life friends with the person who is quickly becoming my favorite French teacher :)
