Rose Quartz March + Link-Up

Happy Monday, lovelies!  I'm assuming I'm not alone when I say that I'm so ready for spring weather!  The Michigan temperatures are on the rise and the sun is peeking from behind the winter clouds, so I think we are almost there.

When I start craving the warmer weather, I naturally start to gravitate towards the brighter pieces in my closet.  Vibrant hues help me to feel like spring has arrived even when it's still a little bit chilly outside.

Given my desire to wear the brighter pieces in my closet, I decided to use a rose quartz tank top as a base layer for a vibrant, monochromatic pink look.  My denim jacket keeps away the cold will a colorful statement necklace ties the look together.

Blogging Besties: Southwestern Print and Link-Up Plans!

Ahh, we've made it to Friday again!  Time for the weekend to begin and for another round of Alex and my "take one, pass it on" challenge.  Last week Alex wore this cozy fall look:

I took a slightly looser interpretation of the "take one" step of the process this time.  I just loved Alex's sweater so much but I don't have a similar one in my closet.  I do however have a scarf with a similar Southwestern-inspired print.  So, friends, this week I'm "passing on" the pattern!

I love the way this outfit turned-out!  It probably helps that I'm wearing one of my all-time favorite shirts and my favorite color, blush pink!

The basic elements of my outfit are a striped shirt, black shorts, a printed scarf, oxfords and blush pink.

Brights + Pastels

Good morning, lovelies!  Today I'm participating in another Remix, Rewear, Restyle at Caitlin's blog, Greater Than Rubies.  This week Caitlin has challenged us to put an outfit together featuring bright and pastel colors.  To be quite honest, I've never put much thought into combining these two color groups.  Maybe I've done it before, maybe I haven't, I just never thought about it.  And that's what I love about personal style blogs: I am encouraged to think about my clothes in new and creative ways!

I am by no means an expert in the field of mixing brights and pastels but I will tell you how I managed to combine these color families without looking like there was too much going on.  First, I picked two contrasting colors to work with, pink and blue.  My foundation pieces, the pants and the top are my brights.  I used my pastel pieces, the necklace, blazer and shoes, to pull the contrasting colors together without blinding those who looked at me with too much bright.

 Umm, by the way, pink + stripes + polka dots in the stripes = my new favorite shirt.
