Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Carrie's Recap

Can you believe the month of April is coming to a close? Amazing! It has just flown by and so did Create28 Lovely Spring Looks. Yesterday, Whitney did a recap of her top three favorite looks. I'm going to follow suit today and feature mine. My absolute favorite look from Create28 was this easy peasy look. I think coral is fast becoming my new favorite color. This look was the Bright Colors prompt.

My second favorite look is the Leopard Print prompt. One of a girls' BFFs for sure {at least this girl}.

My third favorite look was the Patterned Bottoms prompt. These pants have quickly become a favorite piece in wardrobe. I always feel chic and bold when I wear them.

I hope you have enjoyed Create28 Lovely Spring Looks. As much as I have enjoyed it, I think it was easier for me to put together Create28 Lovely Looks during the month of February. I am so partial to fall and winter pieces that I really needed a push for Spring. Create28 did help me and I hope it helped you. We surely have plenty of Spring left to create some stunning style, friends. Hope your day is especially lovely, friends!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Whitney's Recap

We have come to the end of Create28: Lovely Spring Looks!  I hope that you have had as much fun as I have exploring your closet with our daily prompts!  In my opinion, they really gave me creative direction without being as restrictive as certain capsule wardrobe challenges.  Photographing my outfits every other day has been quite the task, so I'm looking forward to going back to my usual blogging pace.  However, I've loved the prompts so much, I might make up my own from here on out!  Otherwise, I'm going to feel lost when I look into my closet tomorrow!

I've been proud of most of the outfits I've put together this month but here are my top three!  I think what I like the best about these ensembles are their feminine feel and fun prints.

Leopard Print

What feels really great is that I don't have any outfits to list as my least favorites.  Sure, I have a few that didn't photograph as well as I would have liked, but in general, I like what I wore this month!

In terms of stand-out pieces that I wore a bunch, my denim jacket, mint cardigan and new Converse sneakers got a lot of love!  To me, these are quintessential pieces for transitioning into warmer weather.

What looks did you love the most this month?  Which pieces have you been reaching for over and over?

And finally, merci beaucoup for following along with Carrie and me this month!  I hope you'll keep stopping by!  Stay tuned for Carrie's recap tomorrow!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Favorite New Trend

Is leopard print a girl's best friend? If not the BFF then at least the top 10 or top 5. I'm not sure if any style challenge is complete without a little leopard print. For me, I have leopard print in a variety of categories like shoes, belts, tops and scarves. I love a little subtle or not to subtle pop of leopard print. Since I have a few options, today I'm choosing a leopard print scarf to style. As I put this simple look together, I thought it embodied a casual look that I really love.

Leopard Print

I adore a simple grey tee and pair that with white and a chic look easily evolves. Adding the leopard print simply takes it to another level. Simple, casual and chic.

How do you style leopard print? Do you have a favorite look with leopard print? Would love to hear your comments.

Tomorrow Whitney will be featuring her looks as a recap of Create28 Lovely Spring Looks. Please stop by and see her favorite creations from the entire month. I'll be back on Thursday with mine.

Create28: Style a Skirt Part 2

Skirts! They are just so much fun because typically if you shop well you are able to find a skirt that helps to create multiple looks with what's already in your closet. I think we ladies all need some basic skirts {like a black pencil} and some fun skirts to add a little variety. The little skirt that I'm featuring today is that type of skirt - the fun type.

DSC_2474

This is one of those comfy and soft skirts that are perfect in the summertime. I think I can create multiple looks with tees, tanks and cardigans. With the black background, I know I have oodles of options.

skirt 2

By the way, I found this skirt at Old Navy for $10.00. Great price for a piece that will serve me well with my wardrobe. So friends, I would think skirts and how to incorporate them into your wardrobe. A little gem like this is one that cross the seasons. I can't wait to create a look with boots in fall.
As we are coming the close of the Create28 Lovely Spring Looks, we still have give a shout out to leopard print. Whitney is up tomorrow to feature it first.

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Style a Skirt

Can you believe that I went years without wearing skirts because I was stumped about what to pair with them?  Reading personal style blogs has really helped me to learn which tops to put with which bottoms, but they have also taught me to be creative and experiment with different pairings.  Now I realize that the options are endless!

Because sometimes you just need to take a mirror selfie.

I chose this skirt for a style challenge that I participated in this fall called the 31 Days, 31 Ways Remix.  Through this challenge, I've already worn this skirt four different ways (seen here and here).  Today I wanted to completely change-up how I styled this skirt to make it more springy.  I went with a monochromatic look featuring a floral blouse (because can you ever have enough floral print this time of year?).

Carrie has already worn several cute skirts during Create28 so I can't wait to see hers tomorrow for Style a Skirt Part 2!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Spring Stripes Part 2

It's been about a year since I started to wear stripes. It's also been about a year since I have wanted a striped dress. My hope was to find a navy/white or black/white straight striped dress. Unfortunately, I passed on a couple and settled with the one I'm featuring today. Lots of reasons I think this dress is a wonderful alternative but I still hope to find one of others as well.

Striped dress & denim

I do really like striped dresses worn as a casual look with sneakers. I thought adding a denim jacket would also enhance the casual feel.

This is one of those dresses that can easily be worn dressed up or down. I so love versatility of looks because I think it extends your clothing and can save money.

Have you thought about a striped dress as an addition to your wardrobe for Spring? If you have added one, have you discovered lots of looks? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Tomorrow Whitney's up and she's styling a skirt. Can't wait to see her look because she's always so darn cute.

Blogging Besties: Orange

Hello, all! Thank goodness it's Friday, and thank goodness it's time for me to share my Blogging Besties look with you!

Last week, Whitney wore this bright, fun spring look:

I considered going the easy route and passing on a denim jacket, flats, or sunglasses, since I wear them all the time and they're super-easy to style! But since I'm in the middle of my Take One, Pass It On remix right now, I decided to choose something a little more challenging. During this challenge, I've been searching for ways to remix pieces in my closet that don't get a lot of love.

So, I chose my orange top! I really love it on the hanger, especially the contrast piping, but that little stripe has made it kinda tough to style! But for today, I thought the bright colors of the orange and pink would pop really nicely against my white jeans. Then, I added gold sandals and accessories!

Blouse: LOFT via ThredUP (similarsimilarsimilar)
Jeans: LOFT (similarsimilarsimilar)
Sandals: Jack Rogers (exact)

The elements of this outfit are: orange, a sleeveless blouse, white jeans, sandals, gold jewelry, bangles, and contrast piping. What did you pass on from Whitney's outfit last week? Link up with your look!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Spring Stripes

If you've spent any amount of time around these parts, you know that I love stripes.  I once did a load of laundry that was 90% comprised of striped items.  I may or may not have a problem.  But you know what?  If loving stripes this much is wrong, then I don't want to be right!  They are just so darn chic!

Since I wear stripes at least once a week, I wanted to somehow freshen-up my look for Create28.  Of all my striped items, I felt this pink and white number was the brightest and most fun for a warmer weather challenge.  I added my trusty vest for interest and then threw-on my newly beloved Converse.  Perfect for a casual, spring weekend!

Oh hey, sweet Ruby!

How are you freshening-up your stripes this spring?  Come back tomorrow for day two of Spring Stripes and to see how Carrie is wearing hers!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Graphic Tee Part 2

Happy Earth Day, friends! Today is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how we live as consumers in this world. Because culture can somewhat force us to live as consumers, it's always good to take a step back and re-evaluate how our consumption affects others on the globe. I have lots of thoughts about that topic but I think I'll share those on another day within the confines of another post. I'm way too convicted that my post contains a new graphic tee rather than a thrifted one which would have fit more appropriately with the Earth Day motif. Today, I'm featuring a graphic tee that was a recent purchase. It's not that the graphic drew me in or means something to me but the feel of the soft material and boyfriend look convinced me to make the purchase.

Have you embraced the graphic tee yet? I think they are absolutely fabulous and versatile across lots of looks for Spring. Our next look is the same. It's stripes that's up next with Whitney. Hope you'll stop back by and see what she features.

Have a lovely day, friends!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Graphic Tee

I've found myself totally into graphic tees in the past year or so!  They are a fun way to express your style and personality because you can literally wear your interests on your sleeve (or chest, rather).  As a French teacher, I naturally find myself drawn to all apparel featuring French phrases or the Eiffel Tower.  I really do try to limit myself but when I came across this cropped "Pardon my French" number, I knew I had to add it to my collection.

You guys, this is my first ever crop top!  That being said, I am not comfortable baring any part of my midriff for the world to see...which is where these high-waisted shorts come into play.  And while I'm experimenting with new-to-me looks, I might as well try a pair of tights under shorts!  This outfit really put me outside of my comfort zone, but guess what?  I loved it!

What do you proudly display across your chest when you wear your favorite graphic tee?  Your favorite sports team?  Your favorite book?  Celebrity?  I can't wait to see!  And don't just stop with one, wear your second favorite graphic tee tomorrow and come back to see how Carrie styles hers!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Lace

Happy Monday, friends! Hope your weekend was restful and lovely. Today it's back to the workforce for me and I am starting a new position which is actually a promotion. I'm totally excited! New challenges and that is something I really love - a good challenge. Today, I'm styling lace {or in my case a crocheted top} and to be honest, I'm pulling some looks from this time last year. The reason being, I have looked for a top with some lace detail because I want to add that little bit of femininity to my wardrobe but so far that has been a fail. I thought I would pull these looks back out because I still really like them and know I'll be wearing them again this year.

To be honest, I almost put this top in the giveaway pile. I'm so glad that I didn't do that! I have it to be a gorgeous top which adds a touch of femininity to almost anything in my wardrobe. How about you? Do you have any lace or crocheted pieces in your wardrobe? What is your go to piece that make you feel and look feminine? Would love to hear about it in the comments.

Remember today is our link up so add your post below and if you want to, please enter the giveaway. Who wouldn't want a gift card to Nordstrom's, right?

Be sure to stop by tomorrow when Whitney will be a styling a graphic tee. I've seen some great ones so far this season and can't wait to see hers. Have a lovely day, friends!

Create28: Lovely Spring Looks- Show Your Toes

I don't know about you, but when the temperatures start to rise, I get super excited to see my sandals again!  Throughout my blogging journey, I've gotten a lot better at truly utilizing my wardrobe.  I now know that a summer sundress can partner with a pair of tights and a cardigan to create a winter look.  While I'm proud of my newly found remixing abilities, I don't feel as much excitement about clothing when the seasons change since I've been wearing the same pieces all along.  But shoes!  You can't wear riding boots in the summer nor can you show your toes when it snows (ohhh dear, maybe writing three posts in a row has me a bit loopy)!  So I am very excited to switch-up my footwear!

Doesn't this dress remind you a little bit of Carrie's from a few days ago?  Anyways, I've owned this dress and cardigan for a few years now but never thought to put them together.  Don't you love when you create a new favorite combo from well-loved pieces?  If you look closely, you can see that there is a very subtle print to the cardigan which makes for a fun, pattern-mixed look.  The cognac belt and wedges pull the look together!

Are your toes happy to be breathing the fresh air?  Let's see 'em!  And tomorrow we want to see your Lovely Lace!

Create28: Brights and Blogging Besties: Lace

I'm working double-time again today for my Create28 collaboration with Carrie and for Blogging Besties, my weekly series with Alex!

I took today's Create28 prompt, brights, to the ultimate level!  Orange and teal is one of the brightest color combinations I could create from my closet.  On top of that, it was quite bright outside when I took these photos (the perfect excuse to sport my new sunnies).  And can we address the bright white color of my poor legs?!  I think it's time for a little sunshine!

What's your favorite bright color to wear?  I hope you love your brights because we want you to wear them again tomorrow.  I can't wait to see your looks on Instagram (#Create28SpringLooks) and when you link-up on Monday!

Alex combined a lot of great, classic pieces to create her look last week:

From her look, I chose to pass-on lace with my bright orange version!

If you are participating in the Blogging Besties "take one, pass it on" challenge, your choices for next week are bright colors, orange, teal, lace, a skirt, a jean jacket, flats and sunglasses.

What did you pass on this week?
